What is Rate Adjustment?

By making rate adjustments, you have the flexibility to raise or lower the room rates before they are sent by the channel manager to the connected OTA.

During the mapping process, you have the option and the flexibility to adjust the rates by a percentage before synchronizing them with your OTA. This feature is particularly useful if you are not employing a rate parity strategy and do not need to maintain consistent and uniform rates across your distribution channels.

What is rate parity strategy?

Rate parity, or hotel rate consistency, means keeping rates the same for a room across all booking platforms, be it the hotel's official website, online travel agencies, or other third-party booking channels. The goal is to maintain identical rates regardless of where the booking is made.

However, it's important to note that while rate parity offers advantages, some hotels may also choose to implement strategies that allow for flexibility in pricing, such as offering exclusive discounts or perks to customers who book directly through their official website or loyalty programs. Ultimately, the decision to work with rate parity depends on a hotel's specific business goals, market strategy, and partnership agreements with booking platforms.

How to adjust the rates?

Rate adjustment occurs at the OTA level and can be carried out during or after the mapping process. For further details on the mapping process between the channel manager and the OTA, please read this article. To adjust the rates for an OTA, please follow the steps below:
