How to customize your Booking Widget's settings

Learn how to adjust the settings in your booking widget to customize colors, rate plans, and functionality of the reservation process — giving you complete control over how guests book directly with your property.

What is a Booking Widget?

A Booking Widget is an interactive component on your website’s interface that get the requested information from the booking engine and present it to the guests. Widgets can be embedded or appear as an element (book now button), and all bookings made through the booking widget will automatically appear in your calendar.

Step-by-Step: Customizing Your Booking Widget

To customize your booking widget's settings, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in Hotel Link extranet.
  2. Go to Booking Widget tab > Booking Widget Customization.
  3. On this page, there are 3 main sections:
    (1): The color customization. For more details, click here.
    (2): The other settings including: currency, rate plan settings
    (3): The codes where you can get to embed to your own website. For more details, you can read this article.

Understanding the (2) section

This section includes settings on reservation page as you would like the rate plans to appear on that page. For example: hide rooms, show rooms that have Special Offers applied, manage the default number of nights, etc.

  • Currency: Sets the default currency automatically displayed when user opens the booking widget page. If the currency selected is different than the rates currency defined at the booking engine settings page, the booking widget will use the currency exchange tool by Oanda using the latest exchange rate available.

     

  • Days Out: Sets the default date from today when a user first lands on the booking widget page. 
    • For example: Today is 22 May 2025, Days out = 3. When the user first lands on the booking widget page, the check-in date will be 25 May 2025.
  • Nights Selected: Sets the default nights that a user will have pre-selected between the check-in date and check-out date. 
  • Promote Specials: Pushes all Special Offers to the top of the booking widget page.


  • Hide Selected Rooms: Define the rate plans that should not be listed on the booking widget. For more details, click here.
     
  • On Request Rooms: Defines if the rate plans with 0 availability are displayed to the user on the booking widget for On Request bookings. When an On Request booking is made, the guest has to wait for the hotelier to confirm availability. For details, click here.
     
  • Rate Plans Order: Define to set the display of Rate Plan:
    • System order: Sort by the systematic rate on the extranet.
    • Alphabetically: Sort by name of rate plan from A to Z.
    • Price from Low to high: Sort by room rate from the lowest to the highest.
    • Price from High to Low: Sort by room rate from the highest to the lowest.
       
  • Restricted Rooms: The restricted rooms are rooms that we still have allotment but travellers cannot book because some conditions are not met like: min night, max night, CTA, CTD, or release period. For more details how this feature works, read here.
     
  • Adult and Child Filters: Define if you wish to show the filter for the number of Adults and Child on the booking widget and search widget.
     
     
  • Best Rate Guarantee Badge: Adds a Best Rate Guarantee badge to the booking widget on your website. By guaranteeing the best rate on your website you can increase the number of direct bookings considerably.

     
  • Allow hotel to receive message from traveller on Thank You page: Allow travellers to send direct messages to you right after creating their booking. For details, click here.
